Summer 2

Summer 2

In our last Summer Term, Year 6 will continue to learn about the fascinating life of Jacques Cousteau in our English book: Manfish by Jennifer Berne. We will also be reading ‘Great Adventurers’ by Alastair Humphreys as our class guided read.

In maths, the children will apply their learning through investigations and real-life challenges that develop problem-solving, reasoning and teamwork skills. They will also revisit key concepts, including number, fractions and calculations, to build confidence and support a smooth transition to secondary school.

In Science this term, the children will study Animals, Including Humans: Circulation and Health. They will learn about the human circulatory system, including the functions of the heart, blood vessels and blood. Pupils will also explore how nutrients and water are transported throughout the body, as well as the importance of exercise, diet and healthy lifestyle choices in keeping our bodies healthy. Through investigations and discussions, the children will continue to develop their scientific enquiry skills and deepen their understanding of how the human body works.

Sports Day

One of the highlights of the summer term is always Sports Day, and the children are already looking forward to taking part in their final primary school sports event. This is a wonderful opportunity for teamwork, determination and celebrating personal achievement, while enjoying a fun and active day together.

Secondary School Transition

Preparation for secondary school will also be an important focus throughout the term. The children will take part in transition activities designed to build confidence, independence and resilience ahead of September. Many pupils will also have the opportunity to visit their new secondary schools, helping them become familiar with new routines, environments and expectations.

We are incredibly proud of how much Peregrine Class have achieved during their time in primary school and look forward to supporting them through this exciting final chapter. Thank you for your continued support as we help the children prepare for the next stage of their learning journey.
